The Gel-Lyte III was conceived by Japanese designer Shigeyuki Mitsui in 1990 and in a short time, they become one of the sneakers with the most iconic silhouette of the Asics Tiger brand. Before 1990, Asics used dual-density soles, while Mitsui proposed a model that would use a three-density sole, much more difficult to produce and control. These sneakers were the second in the history of the brand to use split tongue technology, or a split tongue in the middle that embraces the foot increasing comfort and convenience. In 2015, they reach the pinnacle of fame with the launch of a collection in collaboration with the world's leading stores and designers, in tribute to the 25thanniversary of the silhouette.
